There are Nine Different Classes of Hazardous Material

Dangerous goods are substances that may pose an immediate hazard to people, property or the environment. You need to understand their properties when using, storing, handling or transporting them safely.

The consequence can be dramatic when you fail to manage the risks.

The IMDG Code (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) was just published by IMO (International Maritime Organization) in 1965. From January 2004 the code has been mandatory for SOLAS (Safety of Life at sea Convention) signatory states and under the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL)

This makes it effectively a global rule book for the transport of dangerous goods by sea.

Directed primarily at sea transport, the provisions of the code may effect a whole range of industry and services. Exporters, Manufacturers, packers, shippers and services as road rail  port authorities and CFS will find authoritative advice on classifications, storage, segregation, packing, labeling, placarding, terminology, storage, segregation, emergency response and medical first aid.
