Model 6501 Illuminated Electronic Control Head

The 6501 is an illuminated version of the 6505 control head which offers not only compact design but the features of a full size control. Where space and visibility are limited this is the head of choice.

The housing and handles are manufactured of bronze and stainless steel. Finished options include chrome, black or white epoxy paint polished bronze.

The unit uses a water resistant keypad but is not waterproof. The keypad offers switches for the standard features: Station Select, Station Lock, Throttle Override and Synchronization. Incorporation of the latest electronic technology allows this head to team up with any of the Kobelt control systems.

The 6501 can be used with the 6525 advanced system.

The 6501S is used with the Mighty Mariner system.

Model – 6504 Control Head

The 6504 control head provides precision and reliability. This is intended for the sleek pleasure craft market. This control head integrates with all other control products.

It is constructed entirely in bronze and stainless steel and will give many years of trouble-free service. It is also possible for this control to incorporate steering gear and many other shipboard functions to provide an overall package for the boat owner. Our standard 6525 microprocessor will accept the signals from any control to provide time delays interlocks and/or interlocks.

Kobelt is proud to introduce its latest development in quality electronic control systems – The Mighty Mariner. This new mini system has all the same attention to detail and quality as its larger predecessor, yet offers a compact economical solution for small and medium craft.

The system is comprised of the 6505S control head in combination with the 6527-S electronic actuator, both in sturdy bronze and stainless steel.

The control head is completely watertight from topside* and can be used in any location on board. The 6527-S is a stand-alone actuator† with manual override. The electronics are stored in the housing of the actuator itself, eliminating the need for the separate microprocessor unit. The result is a pared-down, economical electronic control system perfectly suited to simplified needs.

The installation requirements for the Might Mariner are minimal. Communications is via a CAN Bus. This system offers up to 4 stations with station select, station lock, overriding throttle and synchronization**

Model 6505 Electronic Control Head

The 6505 Electronic Control Head was recently developed to accommodate customers who have limited space on their control consoles. The 6505 is compact, yet it offers all the features and accuracy of our bigger models.

The housing and handles (available in two handle lengths) are constructed in all bronze and stainless steel. The standard unit is available in either chrome, black epoxy, white or polished bronze. Optional self-adhesive side scales are available.

The 6505 incorporates the latest electronic technology. The touch pad buttons are water tight, and come standard with station accept, station lock, throttle override and synchronizer. The unit is totally water tight from the top side and can be used anywhere on board ship. The bottom side must be protected from the elements.

Model 6506 Side Mount Electronic Control

The 6506 is a side mounting electronic control that can be used for single lever clutch and throttle, or any combination of CP propeller and/or trolling valve. This unit is constructed in bronze and stainless steel. The housing is available in chrome and/or black epoxy. The control handle is always supplied in chrome.

The handle is attached to the control on a 36 tooth spline and can be rotated in 100 increments.

The control can be installed in two different ways. An external flush mounting where the housing is exposed, or an internal mounting where the housing is behind the control console, and only the lever and shaft is exposed. The unit is equipped with friction and detent and can be adjusted to customer requirements.

This unit is also available with two potentiometers. The computer will read both potentiometers but should one fail, the computer would ignore the incorrect signal. This control requires an external headboard. Model 6507 is recommended and can be combined with all other KOBELT control devices.

Model 6507 Mode Selector

The 6507 Mode Selector was developed for vessels that require the control station and mode selector to be located in different areas. An example would be where there is limited space below the controls, or where separate controls are required for each engine.

The 6507 has proved especially useful for applications such as sports fishing boats where two side mount controls are installed at the aft console and the mode selector is mounted on the top. The housing is constructed entirely out of bronze, the key pad and lights are waterproof. The underside must be protected from the elements.

Model 6508 Illuminated Electronic Control

The 6508 is illuminated, but not water tight. This unit must be protected from the elements.

The 6508 can be equipped with two potentiometers per handle. This will give redundancy in the electronic control system. The microprocessor will read the two potentiometers at all times and if the microprocessor considers one of them defective, it will ignore it and read the intact potentiometer only.

The unit is constructed entirely in bronze and stainless steel. The key pad & lights are waterproof. However the underside is NOT hermetically sealed.

Model 6509 Integrated Electronic Control Head

The compact design of this control head allows it to be fitted into small spaces. The upper portion is of a water tight construction and can, therefore, be installed anywhere on board ship. It is made entirely in bronze and stainless steel.

The 6509 control head is also available in a single engine configuration. Non-illuminated side decals can be attached to the control head for fixed propulsion applications.

Model 6511-AP8 ALARM PANEL

This alarm panel is Kobelt’s latest development in reducing the size of components and more importantly, helping our customers save time and money when installing alarm panels.

The 6511-AP8-S single alarm panel and 6511-AP8-T twin alarm panel provide alarm points for the steering hydraulic power units with AC motors. These panels can be located in the machinery control room or the pilothouse to switch, monitor and protect the steering system.Pump Fail (system pressure low)

  • All circuits are wired NC (normally closed) and in the event of an alarm or circuit failure, the back lit lenses will indicate which alarm is activated with an audible alarm. The alarm will stay on until it is acknowledged by pressing the Silence switch. The alarm will continue to flash until fault situation is cleared.

    The 6511 is available with up to two potentiometers for the steering systems and is intended for use with electric over hydraulic steering systems. The controller (with the exception of the potentiometers) is constructed entirely of die cast bronze complimented by stainless steel hardware for longevity in a marine environment.

    The 6511-AP8 has a water resistant membrane keypad and is constructed entirely of die-cast bronze complemented by stainless steel hardware for longevity in a marine environment.

    Model - 6514 Control Head

    Intended for multiple shipboard applications, this control head has the versatility to be used either strictly as a mechanical control, an electronic control, or a combination of both.

    The Kobelt 6514 control head provides redundant electronics (dual potentiometers per handle) and is available with selector switches conveniently located on the front face. These selector switches can be used for Station Select, Station Lock, Synchronization, Throttle Override, Trolling Mode or other features depending on the system being controlled. As an illuminated head, a dimmer switch can also be provided (as shown in the picture).

    Like other Kobelt products, the 6514 is constructed entirely of sturdy bronze and stainless steel, ensuring years of corrosion-free service. Due to its design, the head is not waterproof and therefore should be used only in locations protected from the environment. The head is available in the following finishes: chrome plated, polished bronze, black, or white epoxy, and also gold plated upon special request.

    Other options such as custom designed handles are available upon request. So do not hesitate to inquire if you have a special requirement.

    Model 6515 Triple Engine Control Head

    This unit was designed specifically to handle three independent engines for marine propulsion applications. The actual control Model 6515 is mounted on a Model 6510 panel and is available with four to six touch-pad buttons. It is capable of providing almost any kind of control functions on board ship.

    The entire unit is constructed in bronze and stainless steel and is water tight from the top side. If, however, the unit is exposed to some severe environmental conditions it might be prudent to install a protective cover. The underside of the unit should be protected from the environment since it is not hermetically sealed. This control head can be used with any other electronic control components provided by Kobelt.

    Model 6524 Electronic Actuator

    This actuator was designed to actuate such items as marine clutches, throttles trolling valves, controllable pitch propeller mechanisms and various shipboard and industrial applications.

    The revolutionary design (patent pending) allows for easy installation and adjustment.

    The output lever has an internal resilient link which allows the items to be controlled to be over-stroked without causing any harm to the drive train and motor. This is extremely useful if there is wear in the mechanical linkage between our actuator and the item to be controlled.

    The potentiometers and all wiring are easily accessible under the side covers. An inspection door is also provided to inspect the drive train. All actuators are not waterproof and therefore should not be immersed in liquid or washed.

    Model 6527 Electronic Actuator

    The 6527 electronic actuators are constructed in bronze and stainless steel, except for the motor and worm. It can be used for many marine and industrial applications to operate and position lever actuated mechanisms.

    The basic control unit comes with manual override and one trim pot per side to adjust the stroke. This actuator does not have an internal resilient link like our model 6524. Therefore, the stroke must be adjusted precisely to suit the device to be controlled. This unit, has a high torque of 180 ins. lbs. All actuators are not waterproof and therefore should not be immersed in liquid or washed.

    The actuator comes with two 43-series connection kits. If you prefer 33-series cable, please let us know and we'll provide the 30 series connection kit.

    Model 6528 General Position Actuator (Electronic)

    This actuator was specifically designed to handle heavy duty positioning functions. It has some very unique features not found in any other actuators. First of all, it incorporates a manual override which allows the operator to position the unit manually. Secondly, it has an electro mechanical clutch arrangement which allows for spring centering or returning the mechanism to an neutral start position in case of power failure. The most important part, however is that the unit has a resilient driven output shaft. This means that when the input shaft (motor driven side) gets ahead of the output shaft, the motor will actually stop and wait until the resilient link has caught up with the input side.

    There are three different springs available for the resilient link:
    100% spring which produces 600 in.lbs.
    75% spring which produces 450 in.lbs
    50% spring which produces 300 in.lbs

    A potentiometer is also provided to give feed back to such things such as pitch indicators, throttles, gear boxes etc. All the castings and hardware are constructed in bronze and stainless steel. For items that need accurate positioning, a push pull cable is not recommended, because of the lost motion in push pull cables. A solid rod with rod ball ends is recommended.

    Model 6531 Electronic Actuator

    The Actuator is made in bronze and stainless steel. It has a worm wheel drive onto a spur gear drive giving a reduction gear of 200 to 1. The output shaft has a total of 90° of rotation and a maximum torque of 150 in. lbs.

    What really separates the Kobelt Actuator from other actuators is electric clutch which disengages upon power failure, allowing the unit to be manually controlled or mechanically remote controlled.

    A spring mechanism is available that will return the clutch to neutral and the throttle to idle automatically upon power failure. The Throttle Actuator can be reversed in the field for either left-hand or right-hand rotation. The Clutch Actuator can also be by simply reversing wires that are easily accessible. The main controller can be adjusted to limit the handle travel in either direction to suit either the Model 6531 gearbox or throttle movements. All actuators are not waterproof and therefore should not be immersed in liquid or washed.

    Model - 6555 Twin Engine Control Head

    The 6555 control head is illuminated and not considered to be water tight. As a result, it is recommended for interior use only. It is made entirely in bronze and stainless steel on exposed surfaces and is durable enough to carry Kobelt’s unsurpassable multi-year limited warranty.

    The 6555 can be equipped with two potentiometers per handle. The Kobelt microprocessor is able to read both potentiometers at all times and be able to compare the readings from both potentiometers thus providing the alarm signal when a discrepancy is detected.

    The 6555 control head is illuminated and not considered to be water tight. As a result, it is recommended for interior use only. It is made entirely in bronze and stainless steel on exposed surfaces and is durable enough to carry Kobelt’s unsurpassable multi-year limited warranty.

    The 6555 can be equipped with two potentiometers per handle. The Kobelt microprocessor is able to read both potentiometers at all times and be able to compare the readings from both potentiometers thus providing the alarm signal when a discrepancy is detected.

    As is always the case for Kobelt products, you can have options of chrome or black for the finish of the enclosure. The handles are always chrome plated.

    The control head can be configured to control a single engine. In addition, the control head can be integrated with a variety of Kobelt mounting panels for different applications. The standard ones are 6510-S4 or 6510-S6 panels.

    Model 6580 DIAMOND HEAD CONTROsL

    The 6580 Diamond Head Control was developed to add peace of mind while navigating. With its robust design, constructed entirely in bronze and stainless steel, available in Black or White Epoxy, the 6580 Diamond Head is complete with Dual Handles, Membrane Switches and Simulated RPM and Clutch indicators.

    This unique control allows you to operate twin engines electronically via the handles or in back-up mode via the touch membrane switches. The forward, neutral and reverse on either side of the control allows you to operate the gear box from neutral to forward or reverse without moving the handles. In order to operate in back up mode both diamonds must be pushed simultaneously. The (+) and (-) button will increase or decrease the engine speed. The centrally located keypad consists of the Station Select, Station Lock, Throttle override and Engine Synchronization.

    The 6580 Diamond Head Control is compatible with the popular Kobelt Mighty Mariner Control System.

    Model 6580R DIAMOND HEAD CONTROL

    The 6580R Diamond Head Control was developed to provide the ultimate convenience of having steering and propulsion all in one control. With its robust compact design, constructed entirely in bronze and stainless steel, available in Black or White Epoxy, the 6580R Diamond Head is complete with Dual Handles, Membrane Switches and Simulated RPM and Clutch indicators.

    This unique control allows you to operate twin engines electronically via the handles or in back-up mode via the touch membrane switches.     Model 6652 KRRONOS CONTROL HEAD
    The 6652 Krronos Control Head was developed to include the latest innovations; LCD touch screen technology is now introduced to the marine industry. With its sleek and compact design, constructed entirely in Bronze and Stainless Steel and available in Black or White Epoxy, Chrome, Polished Brass or Gold Plate finishes, the Krronos 6652 Control is complete with a 3.5" LCD touch screen with display and command control functions including: Station Select, Station Lock, Engine Synchronization, Simulated RPM Speed and Direction Indication, Throttle Override, Alarm Functions and Station in Command Indication. The Krronos 6652 Control is compatible with the popular Kobelt Mighty Mariner Control System.
    Model 6653 STEERING AND ENGINE CONTROLLER

    This illuminated combined controller, specially engineered for 360° steerable drives, provides propulsion controls for clutch and throttle plus 360 degree continuous full follow-up steering rudder control. The 6653 is a compact version of the Kobelt’s 6655.

    To complete the propulsion system a 6535 microprocessor, steering (directional control) solenoid valves and a 6658 continuous feedback unit is required for each steerable drive.

    The lever of the 6653, intended for a single steerable drive, provides both clutch and throttle propulsion control. Push the lever forward 20 degrees to engage the forward gear. Push the lever another 60 degrees for full throttle control from engine idle to maximum RPM.

    The 6653 is available with up to two potentiometers for the steering systems and is intended for use with electric over hydraulic steering systems.

    The controller (with the exception of the potentiometers) is constructed entirely of die cast bronze complimented by stainless steel hardware for longevity in a marine environment.

    The position of the rudders is proportional to the position of the FFU controller. Returning the controller to midship will cause the steering gear to “FOLLOW UP” to the midship position and stay there until the next command signal is given.

    The finish color of the housing can be black, chrome, white or polished bronze

    Model 7176 "Walk-about" Controller

    This control device is intended to control one or two main engines. The 7176 model also provides finger-tip control over rudder. This control device can be equipped with either two indicator lights, two push buttons or toggle switches to select various propulsion modes, steering modes as well as incorporating a bow thrust.

    The 7176 Controller is constructed entirely in bronze and stainless steel. It is very light in weight and a provision for a shoulder strap is made so that the unit can be worn around the neck like a camera. The 7176 controller is also totally sealed to avoid moisture entering the unit.

    A special print circuit board is required in order to make the 7176 integrate with our main microprocessor. This circuit board is housed in our regular 7173 housing unit (7171) and the signals from the 7176 unit must pass through the 7177 unit to make the system operative.
