FX 500 FleetBroadband Satellite Terminal

The FX 500 FleetBroadband terminal is the latest-generation maritime communication systems operating on the Inmarsat FleetBroadband Satellite System. It is compact and easy to install. The FX 500 terminal is Inmarsat approved for use with XpressLink.

Using Inmarsat’s most advanced commercial communication satellites, the FX 500 FleetBroadband terminal provides simultaneous access to clear digital voice or fax, high-speed Standard IP (for email, FTP, web browsing etc.) and Streaming IP data (for real-time streaming video etc.) and SMS. It makes it easier for the Captain to download the latest weather and navigational charts while the crew members can call, talk, send and receive text messages and email around the world. Moreover there will be no noticeable degradation of data bandwidth when the terminal is at the edge of satellite coverage unlike other classes of FleetBroadband terminals.

The FX 500 FleetBroadband terminal offers data speeds of up to 432kbps with many value-added features:

The FX 500 is a high performance satellite communication terminal with the salient features:

The FX 500 includes a primary handset with a large colour LCD display and mobile phone type keys for making/receivingphone calls, making selective terminal configuration changes, sending and receiving SMS messages, including larger SMS content of greater than 160 characters as multipart or segmented messages. This feature is popular for the Captain and the crew members who are used to texting from their mobile phones while on shore.

The FX 500 can act as a WAN connection to any onboard computer network (LAN) by simply connecting the unit to the onboard LAN and making all the devices attached to the LAN accessible to the Internet. The MAC Filtering feature provides a strong security option by providing access rights only to selected devices based on their MAC addresses. A Firewall option complements the security options by not only blocking unauthorized remote access but also blocks unwanted data traffic thus saving unwanted air-time costs.

The Network Management feature supporting Direct Mode (one-to-one), Shared Mode (multi-user) and a DMZ mode makes it powerful enough to configure the FX 500 with the attached devices in many different combinations of network configurations.

The FleetBroadband terminal has a continuous GPS output feature which allows GPS data to be sent out via the RS232 port in standard NMEA 0183 format. With the built-in GPS module, the FX 500 is able to provide accurate position information to onboard systems such as plotters and depth sounders, with a configurable baud-rate setting.

With the standard built-in Wi-Fi feature, the web-based user interface can be accessed via any web browser including Wi-Fi-enabled Smartphones such as BlackBerrys, iPhones, Android Phones, iPads, and PDAs via the FX 500’s secure Wi-Fi (WLAN). The Wi-Fi connection also offers a wireless Push-to-Talk (PTT) service to Smartphone users using free PTT applications such as Zello, without having to add any additional hardware to the terminal (unlike other PTT solutions that require expensive add-on hardware).

FX 250 FleetBroadband Satellite Terminal

The FX 250 FleetBroadband terminal is the latest-generation maritime communication system operating on the Inmarsat FleetBroadband Satellite System. It is compact and easy to install. The FX 250 terminal is Inmarsat approved for use with XpressLink.

Weir Boom

The Weir Boom is designed for mass oil recovery and oil well 'blow-outs', and can  recover floating oils at up to 210m3 /hr.

The system consists of a 70m / 76m length of four tube boom, which is connected at one end to a further three hundred meters of two tube boom.

The four tube section includes an air tube, a water ballast tube, a buoyancy tube and a recovered oil discharge tube. The two tube section consists of just the air and the water ballast tubes.

The free end of the four tube boom is attached to a vessel and a second vessel tows the remaining 300 meters into a 'J' configuration. Oil is collected into the 'J' formation and recovered by the weir skimmers, which are built into the four tube section. The four tube section also houses the high capacity positive displacement vane pumps and discharge hoses to transport the recovered oil to the vessel.

Vikoflex

The Vikoflex system is a light and flexible fence boom with built-in buoyancy that can be rapidly deployed without the need for any special ancillary equipment. It is designed for use in calm water environments such as rivers, intakes, harbours and near shore applications. 

Materials

Vikoflex is manufactured from a high quality polymer and is coated with a compound of polyester, PVC and nitrile. This offers a boom that can operate in a wide range of environments and conditions and which is very easy to clean, maintain and repair.

Sentinel

Sentinel boom is a simple, high performance and versatile range of curtain booms.  The boom is designed for use in rivers, terminals and even the demands of the offshore environment. It is available in a range of sizes dependent on the customer's requirement.

Materials

Sentinel boom is available in neoprene or polyurethane material; both options are highly durable and resistant to UV and hydrocarbons.

Oleophilic Disc - Komara 7 Skimmer

The Komara™ 7 skimmer system is a self-contained, light weight, oil recovery system, specifically designed to be carried by hand into inaccessible areas to recover a wide range of oils from water. The standard system includes an oleophilic disc skimmer head, a unique portable diesel power pack, a floating transfer pump and all the associated hoses and connectors. Vikoma also offers an electric version. This alternative system does not require a power pack and the skimmer head plus pump are connected to an electrical source via a Vikoma controller. The systems will operate in most environments, including very shallow waters and marshland, and will recover in excess of 98% oil.

Due to its compact size the KomaraTM 7 can be used in almost all inland and shoreline areas including ports and harbours, waste oil pits, beach operations, inland waterways, ponds, lakes, marshes, mangroves and any similar environment where oils are required to be removed from water.

Oleophilic Disc - Komara 15 Duplex

The KomaraTM 15 skimmer system is a highly portable oil recovery system, which has been designed to recover a wide range of oil types. The system includes a multi-head skimmer with interchangeable disc and brush cartridges, floating transfer pump, powerpack and associated hoses and floats. 

Due to its compact size, the KomaraTM 15 system can be used in most inland and shoreline areas including ports and harbours, waste oil pits, beach operations, inland waterways, ponds, lakes, marshes, mangroves and any similar environment where oils are required to be removed from water.

Oleophilic Disc - Komara 20

The KomaraTM 20 skimmer system is a self-contained, versatile oil recovery system, comprising an oleophilic disc skimmer, powerful diesel powerpack, transfer pump and all the associated hoses and connectors. The system will operate in most environments and will recover a wide range of oils at up to 23m3/hr, with more than 98% oil pick-up.

The system can be used in ports and harbours, shoreline operations, coastal waters and almost any similar environment where oils are required to be removed from a water source.

The KomaraTM 50 skimmer system is a self-contained, high-capacity oil recovery system, comprising an oleophilic disc skimmer with on-board pump, plus a powerful diesel powerpack and all the associated hoses and connectors. This system will operate in most environments and recover a wide range of oils at more than 50 tonnes per hour, with more than 98% oil pick-up.

The KomaraTM 50 can be used in ports and harbours, shoreline operations, coastal waters, offshore and almost any similar environment where oils are required to be removed from a water source. The KomaraTM 50 will operate in open waters with waves up to two metres in height and has been successfully employed in locations all around the globe with emergency response organisations, coastguards and port authorities.

Oleophilic Disc - OPRS 300

The OPRS Skimmer is a very versatile floating skimmer head, of metal and GRP construction. Its design has been optimized to recover the complete range of oil viscosities. The patented Vikoma multi bank oleophilic ‘Tufted’ discs allow the recovery of light, medium and heavy oils, the forward disc bank also incorporates a brushed conveyor belt which increases the oil viscosity recovery range to very heavy oils and grease.The skimmer is ideally suited to offshore ocean environments using thrusters to give excellent manoeuvrability and positioning. Independent controls for the 3 multi disc banks and the automatically adjusted discharge pump allow flexibility of recovery rates, giving the ability to maximize the recovery rates in a variety of conditions and scenarios. Handling System

Contained within a 20’ shipping container footprint, the specifically designed handling system contains the reel for storage and deployment of the umbilical, skimmer storage space and the diesel power pack to supply all hydraulic power required to run the entire system.With a slew of 200 degrees, equal around the centre line, and a lift of 2.4m – 6m the handling system ensures that the skimmer can be deployed and recovered in almost any operational situation.

 Umbilical

The 60m umbilical contains all services required for skimmer operation. Contained within a 100% vulcanized continuous length with two plies of reinforcement to improve tear resistance.The umbilical cover is independent of the internal foam flotation material which allows the cover to absorb blows/strikes/abrasion without being punctured.Due to the measures outlined above a service life of 4-5 years is typical in normal operating conditions.

The skimmer will operate in most environments and will recover very heavy oils at up to 90.8m3/hr per hour with more than 98% oil pick-up, removing the need for costly separation or disposal of dirty water.

The SD65 or SD100 can be used in a variety of locations, including ports and harbours, waste oil pits, shoreline operations, coastal waters, inland waters and any similar environment where medium to very heavy oils are required to be removed from a water source. Weir - Delta Skimmer

The 5027 Brake Caliper is the flag ship of the Kobelt die - cast brake caliper series. It combines all the latest technology in design and manufacture. Like all the foregoing calipers, it has patented features such as balancing links, adjustment shims to fit between the shoe and the shoe bearing and patented actuators. Again, its compact design makes it a very powerful brake caliper for its size. This brake caliper shares all its components parts, except for shoe and lever, with our Model 5024. As before, the air applied actuators have two supply ports per actuator. In most cases only one of these ports is needed to be connected to the control line

The diaphragm actuator is virtually friction free and is therefore extremely quick in response. In fact, even a 1/10 psi change in air pressure will make a noticeable difference to the braking torque. The maximum supply pressure to the caliper should not exceed 100 psi (6.9 bar). Our standard 2 x 4 series brake disc from 30 to 50 inches range can be used with this caliper..

Weir - Cascade Weir System

The Cascade is an adjustable weir skimmer designed to be particularly effective in large oil spills when a high oil recovery rate is required. It is capable of handling a wide range of oil viscosities.

The system has a floating circular weir device with an on-board hydraulically driven positive displacement Pump. A remote control console allows the operator to optimise skimmer recovery by varying the pump speed and hydraulically adjusting the depth of the weir relative to the oil thickness.

  • The fluid recovery rate of the Vikoma Cascade is up to 183m3/hr.
  • The Pump is particularly adept at handling highly viscous fluids and solids of up to 30mm diameter. It has been proven to be highly efficient in aggressive environments and capable of long maintenance-free operation and dry running for protracted periods.

The only moving part is the self-adjusting weir lip. This, together with the simplicity of the system, ensures minimal maintenance and spare part requirements.

Advancing - Cusp Boom

The Cusp Weir boom is a high capacity, versatile advancing sweep system. It is designed for oil recovery from a variety of environments including rivers (can also be used as a static system), coastal and offshore. The boom element of the system consists of eighty metres of conventional, heavy duty Bulkhead boom and a four tube cusp section.

The four tube section includes the water ballast, buoyancy, pumps, hydraulic supply and recovered oil discharge tubes.

Oil is collected into the cusp and recovered by two composite/custom weir skimmers, which are built-in. The cusp also houses two high capacity positive displacement vane pumps and discharge hoses to transport the recovered oil to the discharge pump.

  • A high capacity (120m3/hr), integral, advancing recovery system.
  • The system can sweep up to a width of 12 meters. Additional Bulkhead boom can be added to increase the width to 60 meters.

Advancing - Weir Boom

The Weir Boom is designed for mass oil recovery and oil well 'blow-outs', and can recover floating oils at up to 210m3 /hr.

The system consists of a 70m / 76m length of four tube boom, which is connected at one end to a further 300 meters of two tube boom.

The four tube section includes a water ballast tube, a buoyancy tube and a recovered oil discharge tube. The two tube section consists of just the air and the water ballast tubes.

Oil is collected into the 'J' formation and recovered by the weir skimmers, which are built into the four tube section. The four tube section also houses three high capacity positive displacement vane pumps and discharge hoses to transport the recovered oil to the vessel.

Mini Vac

The MiniVac system is a lightweight, aluminium, hand portable vacuum recovery system for the collection of spilt oils and floating contaminates. The MiniVac employs safe diesel driven units with the unique ability to split into two parts for ease of handling. The modular system is available in three standard formats:

MiniVac Basic - a complete operational system comprising MiniVac, vacuum receptor, hoses and suction lance.

MiniVac Plus - an enhanced system, including all the MiniVac basic equipment with an additional Mini transfer pump unit to empty the vacuum receptor to discharge.

MiniVac Plus Containerised - a custom built container housing all MiniVac Plus components.

Offshore Storage - Viko Tank

The Vikotank is a self-supporting open top storage tank. It is available in either Neoprene or Polyurethane material. It is constructed with a collar to support the entry lip and to ease filling.

Vikotanks can be supplied with an integral drainage valve, a tailored top cover, ground sheet/carrier bag, a central internal lifting ring and stainless steel top cover restraint rings. They are available in a range sizes up to 15m3.

Vikotanks are typically used in oil recovery, fire fighting, pressure washing and general water storage situations.

StarTanks are typically used in oil recovery, oil/water separation, effluent containment, fire fighting, pressure washing and general water storage situations.

Roll Over Tanks

The Vikoma Roll Over tank is a compact, portable, inflatable containment tank system. It is available in either neoprene or polyurethane material. 

Roll Over tanks are principally used for emergency containment of petroleum products from overturned bulk fuel road tankers. The tanker contents can then be transferred to the Roll Over tank without further spillage.

Offshore Storage - Decontamination Tanks

The Vikoma Decontamination tank is an open-topped, compartmentalised tank. It consists of a base and inflatable tubes, which form the walls of the tank. It is also supplied with a neoprene ground sheet, disposable polythene liners and a polyurethane carry and storage bag. The tank is manufactured from neoprene fabric.

The decontamination tank is designed for cleaning oil spill response equipment such as booms, skimmers and ancillary equipment.

Offshore Storage - Flexible Storage Tanks

The Vikoma flexible floating storage tanks are heavy-duty enclosed tanks.They are available in neoprene or polyurethane material.

The tanks have inflatable cuffs running along both top sides. Once inflated these provide buoyancy for the tank. Both ends of the tank are closed using aluminium connectors. This allows towing bridles to be easily attached and also enables access into the tank for cleaning. The tanks are supplied with two valves for filling and draining, tow bridle assembly, manual inflator and towing drogue.

The flexible floating storage tanks are available in a range of sizes up to 25m3.

Offshore Storage - F.R.O.S.T

The floating recovered oil storage tank is a towable floating oil/water storage tank with a hull shaped storage pocket. The hull is manufactured from neoprene coated fabric. The superstructure is composed of compartments with internal airtight conical bulkheads for increased integrity. The tank is boat shaped with raised bow and stern which increases stability when under tow.

FROSTS are available in various sizes from 5m3 to 100m3.

FROSTS can be used to transport oil products in port and marine operations or for the intermediate storage/transportation of recovered oil. Alternatively, they can also be used for the transportation of all kinds of low-density products.

Dispersant Systems - TC3

The TC3 system is a dispersant system, which is designed to be slung beneath a helicopter. It consists of a 910 litre (210 gallon) dispersant hopper, pump, spray arms, sling assembly and spreader bar and control module. During operation, the unit can be flown at speeds of up to 85 knots, increasing to 120 knots during transit. The TC3's innovative design offers excellent directional stability during flight.

Key features and benefits

  • No modifications to the helicopter are required, as the TC3 can be operated completely independently via a control system located inside the aircraft.
  • The unit can operate at a minimum height of 10 metres, allowing a small area of coverage to be achieved, and therefore increasing efficiency.
  • The system can be set up, ready to operate, in 5 minutes, making it ideal for use in rapid response.
  • The independent control system is operated from within the helicopter.
  • The spray width of the system can be altered by the control module depending on the area of coverage required.

Dispersant Systems - Vikospray 1000

The Vikospray 1000 unit is designed for use as a portable, lightweight oil dispersant sprayer. The system consists of a diesel engine, a self-priming pump, a liquid jet pump and a manifold, all mounted on a skid frame. The system is also supplied with four lances and hoses.

  • The system is lightweight, allowing for easy transportation and manual positioning.

The system comprises of a diesel engine, a self-priming main pump and chemical pump, a manifold and two six meter spray arms. The complete system is mounted on a frame but the spray arms can be detached and mounted to the ship's rail.

Powerpacks

Vikoma designs and manufactures a wide range of diesel engined power packs for use with its oil spill response equipment. These are also available as stand-alone units for operation on other similar or related equipment. For specific requirements, Vikoma can offer its in-house expertise to design and manufacture bespoke assemblies.

When considering the most appropriate power pack for a particular application, there are a number of considerations to take into account, including:

  • Power requirement - Vikoma manufactures a standard range of general power packs from 7HP to 180HP.
  • Area of operation - Storage temperatures between -46oC and 71oC and operational temperatures between -32oC and 49oC and an altitude range of 0 - 3000m.
  • Area of operation - Noise levels are increasingly a consideration with regard to rotating equipment operation. Vikoma can supply power packs which are water cooled, de-rated and are available with acoustic covers to meet these considerations.
  • Starting method - There are a number of factors which can influence the method of starting. These include, but are not limited to, size, temperature, area of operation and costs. In this regard, Vikoma can offer hand, electric, spring and even hydraulic start methods to meet operation requirements.
  • Area of operation - Careful consideration should be given as to whether the power pack will be used in a hazardous environment. As a minimum standard, Vikoma fits chalywn valves (over speed protection device) and exhaust spark arrestors. However, intrinsically safe, Zoned and ATEX designs are also available.
  • Logistics - Vikoma gives careful consideration to its customers' logistical requirements. As such, power packs can be supplied on trolleys or trailers, skid mounted, in two-part designs, low level designs (airfreight), with single, tested lifting points (cranage and heli lifts) and with fork lift pockets.
  • Operation - Power packs can be supplied with auto shut-down devices such as low level and high temperature engine and hydraulic oil sensors.
Viko Pumps

Vikoma has designed and developed the Viko Pump specifically for use in the oil spill recovery and associated industry markets. It is a robust and versatile positive displacement pump, which is available in a range of capacities (5m3/hr to 200m3/hr). They can be supplied as trolley mounted, skid mounted or floating versions. The drive can be electric, hydraulic or diesel.

The Viko Pump can be used to transfer a wide range of liquids, including very high viscosities, and can therefore be used in a variety of applications. This includes, among others, ship to ship, pipeline and transfer to temporary storage. The hydraulically driven version of the Viko Pump can be used in submersible and 'down-hole' applications.

Sorbents

Vikoma offers a comprehensive range of sorbents in a variety of materials and configurations. Sorbents are generally used for smaller spills and for removing the sheen of pollutant from water.

  • High strength and high absorbency ensure the target pollutants are removed quickly and efficiently.

Mini Pipeline System

The Mini-Pipeline system is designed to transfer and temporarily store recovered pollutant from remote and inaccessible areas. It is a containerised system, which consists of two diesel powered transfer Pumps, five temporary storage Vikoma Startanks and 1.3km of galvanised steel 4" pipe.

The versatility of the system allows the user to transfer pollutant over 1km using combinations of the above equipment.

  • The pump sets are skid mounted, have a single point for vertical lift (ideal for heli-lift) and two fork pockets.
  • The pumps can be removed from the skid and either submerged or used in-line.
  • The pumps are variable speed drive and can handle very high viscosity pollutants.

  • The large, 4" pipework and pump are insensitive to plugging and can handle solids of up to 30mm.

Skylight Systems

The Skylight system is a mobile, trailer mounted self-contained 6000watt flood light. It consists of a road trailer, an integrated diesel generator, adjustable mast and tungsten/halogen lights.

  • An integrated, self-contained package.
  • Each flood light can be independently adjusted to achieve maximum lighting coverage.
  • The unit can be used in wind speeds of up to 70 mph.
  • The mast is erected using a single, braked, hand operated winch.
  • Automatic locks are fitted to retain the mast in the vertical when in use, and to lock the sections together when in the stowed position.
  • The 40 litre fuel tank delivers up to 16 hours of continuous use.

 

 

Power Carrier

The power carrier is ideal for transporting Vikoma equipment, especially in areas that cannot be reached by road. 

Powered by a 4 stroke petrol engine it offers operator excellent traction over all types of terrain and sloping service (typically 25 degree incline with 250kg load).
