The KomaraTM Star Mk2 system is a self-contained oil recovery system specifically designed for recovering very heavy oils. The Star system includes a mechanical recovery skimmer with on-board detachable pump, plus hydraulic powerpack and all the associated hoses and connectors. The system will operate in most environments and will recover very heavy oils at 25m3/hr with more than 98% oil pick up.
Thanks to its compact size, the KomaraTM Star Mk2 can be used in a variety of locations, including ports and harbours, waste oil pits, shoreline operations, coastal waters, inland waterways and any similar environment where medium to heavy oil is required to be removed from a water source.

- The positive displacement Vikopump is easily detached and can be used in other pumping duties.
- The Star head and pump can be easily detached making the skimmer lighter and hence easier to handle.
- The skimmer employs patented toothed bank technology to mechanically recover heavy oils.
- The skimmer can operate smoothly even at very low speeds, giving more than 98% oil pick-up, which effectively eliminates the need for costly separation or disposal of dirty water.
- The skimmer will operate even when surrounded by debris such as wood.
- The on-board positive displacement Vikopump enables large volumes of high viscosity contaminants to be recovered and discharged.
- The Vikopump rating is 32m3/hr and the system oil recovery rate is 25m3/hr.
- The diesel powerpack is extremely efficient and incorporates important safety features to ensure that it is safe for operation in oil spill situations.
